On September 24 and 25, 2006, the first Fighting
Illini Invitational was held on the North Course at Olympia Fields Country
Club. Participating 72 of the nation's top college players from twelve
universities.
The event featured 36 holes of competition on Sunday followed by the final
18 holes on Monday. The course was set up with the same tee locations and
pin placements as was played in the final round of the 2003 US Open.
Participating golf teams were from: Arizona State, Duke, Georgia Tech,
Illinois, Minnesota, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Purdue,
Stanford, Toledo and Vanderbilt. |
