THE WOMEN’S 9-HOLE LEAGUE OF
OLYMPIA FIELDS COUNTRY CLUB

 HOW TO COMPLETE A SCORECARD

For all League play days a scorecard will be provided with your name and your partner’s name, handicaps (if applicable), and starting position (front or back nine holes or a specific hole if a shotgun start).

Keep track of all strokes, every time you swing intending to hit the ball, even if you miss the ball.

Different “games” may be designated for each play date. These instructions will be given to you on the play day.  Regardless of the game played, you should keep track of your score.

During 9-Hole League events, take no more than ten (10) strokes on a hole. After 10 strokes, the player picks up her ball and proceeds to the next hole. The score for that hole is recorded as a ten and circled, indicating that the player picked up her ball.

During 9-Hole League events, also keep track of the number of putts required to hole the ball.

REQUIREMENTS FOR A VALID SCORECARD

  1. Total number of strokes taken on each hole.
  2. Total number of putts required to hole the ball. A stroke is considered a put only if the ball is on the green.
  3. Handicap for each player (if applicable).
  4. Date of play.
  5. Event name or game being played. For example, “Two Best Balls.”
  6. Signature of scorekeeper.
  7. Signature of whoever attests the score.

There is a sample of a correctly completed scorecard on the bulletin board in the ladies locker room. Please review it and make sure that your card is complete.  Incomplete cards are considered invalid and will disqualify you from competition.

If you have any questions about scorekeeping, talk with the Pro Shop, the League Chairperson, or other members who are familiar with scorekeeping.
